The Municipality of Oviedo covers an area of some 185.14 sq Km. It is situated in the central area of Asturias, between the river Nalón and the river Nora. Its maximum height is Mount Picayu (709 m).
The so called Oviedo village area is made up of the metropolitan centre or urban centre- where the vast majority of the 209,000 inhabitants of the municipality live- and other 29 parishes, scattered around it: Agüeria, Bendones, Box, Brañes, Caces, Cruces, Godos, Latores, Lillo, Limanes, Loriana, Manjoya, Manzaneda, Naranco, Naves, Nora, Olloniego, Pando, Pereda, Piedramuelle, Pintoria, Priorio, Puerto, San Claudio, Santianes, Sograndio, Trubia, Udrion y Villaperez.
The city’s central area is 227 high above sea-level, protected from the Northern wind by Mount Naranco. To the South lies the Aramo Range. Its current population is about 209,000.
Oviedo limits: To the North the municipalities of La Reguera and Llanera, to the South the muncipalities of Mieres and Ribera de Arriba and to the West Grado and Santo Adriano.
